100 Stories Atelier, the Pop-Up Event

On a sunny afternoon, we welcomed 19 children and their parents/care-givers to our pilot event! The connecting theme of all the activities, was our village, Richterswil. Children enjoyed felting, working with clay, exploring the light table, weaving and decorating birds on the community tree. The wooden train set and the acrylic building blocks provided endless opportunities for play and open-ended explorations.
100 Stories Summer Atelier

On July 13th, 100 Stories hosted its summer program out of the Jugend- und Freizeitzentrum. The Summer Atelier ran for almost two weeks and allowed children a place in the village to explore process art and create with open-ended materials. As well as exploring clay, paint and light, some of the children enjoyed painting and weaving. For the children, it was a chance to experience the Atelier approach, where children explored different creative mediums and invitations at the same time. Without an adult template to follow or "how to instructions" every step of the way, the experience was truly child-led. Children could test their ideas, experiment and be endlessly creative.
Slow Saturdays

We launched our Slow Saturdays series, on a sunny and warm September morning. Our theme for the session was, Lake Zurich and water. Our Atelier space that offers so much natural light, and with the view onto the water, we knew the children would be inspired. The invitations allowed children to explore boat making with loose parts, explore water and oil experiments in the form of a lava lamp, explore marble art, and explore a larger canvas on our "Zurisee Wave". Children could explore what happens when the canvas expands, and no longer lays flat, what happens to oil and water when they meet, what materials float and how do I make a boat out of loose parts? What happens when two colors meet and how do we marble art? As always, the community table allowed for loose parts to create freely with open-ended materials.
